Toxicity of Galls
There is no
evidence, so far, which suggests the nematode galls have any mammalian
toxicity. White albino rats fed with a mixture of basal diet and crushed
nematode galls in the ratio of 9:1 did not show any adverse
effect on the rats (Table 1). In fact, the rats consumed more quantity
of the diet which was mixed with nematode galls in comparison to the
basal diet alone. The rats also gained in weight1'. However,
another species of Anguina, A. agrostis has been reported to be
toxic to animals18.
