Distribution
It is one of
the few plant parasitic nematodes which have received world attention
due to its potentiality for economic damage to many of important plant
species, especially in temperate regions. Many crop growing areas, of
both the hemispheres, have recorded its presence. Obviously, its spread
has occurred through seed, plant material and cut flowers. Its
distribution includes Algeria, Greece, U.K., U.S.A., Germany,
Scandinavia, Sicily, Spain, New Zealand, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Japan
and North America1,',8.

Host
Range
It is known
to attack over 450 plant species, under 40 odd families. Some of the
plant species that are considered as favored hosts are teasel,
daffodil, narcissus, tulip, hyacinth, onion, garlic, carrots,
potato, sugar beet, turnip, rye, corn, Lucerne, alfalfa, phlox and
strawberry.
